A Pitch for Peachy Blunders
A huge thank you to John for bringing Peachy Blunders to us and for setting the project out so clearly. We at Hollywood Indie Festival are cheering you on as you continue to create. The pitch follows below.
'Peachy Blunders' At the annual Fruitopia Air Show, Inspector Split and Sergeant Melba are on duty when the notorious Mascaroni strikes again - this time hijacking the brand-new Meteor 2 jet! With the pear-petrator taking to the skies, Sergeant Melba launches a high-speed pursuit to catch him.
Packed with humour, action and close-to-the-knuckle gags, this fast-paced adventure promises plenty of laughs and thrills. A hilarious solo production by John Kay.
The aim is to strike the ideal balance between kid/teen-friendly setups and multi-layered humour that adults will also find entertaining. The main other animated comedy series with a similar audience range is the 'The Simpsons' but this obviously has a very different scenario.
There aren't many series filling the young 10 -14 slot but also fun for adults – there is a gap in the market for edgy gags.
Also there is a 'Peachy Blunders' script idea for a feature called 'War and Peas' where the neighbouring country, Vegetaria, led by 'The Dictata Potata' tries to invade Fruitopia. This parodies the brutality, corruption and racism (fruit vs vegetables) which is going on in the world today using fruit and vegetable characters.
This is a self contained mini episode from what could be a whole animated series – each episode would feature Mascaroni performing a new whacky crime – like inventing a potion to make himself invisible (The Invisible Mandarin) or making a clockwork robot (Clockwork Orange) etc to rob banks. Insp Split and Sgt Melba try to stop him but ultimately each plot goes pear-shaped for Mascaroni due to his own idiocy.
Also the above animated feature as mentioned above in part 3.
