A Pitch for Folk In Beach
A huge thank you to Jishnu for bringing Folk In Beach to us and for setting the project out so clearly. We at Hollywood Indie Festival are cheering you on as you continue to create. The pitch follows below.
We peek into the journey of three friends, tired of their boring and toxic lives in New York, who set out for a Stranger Couple Dating Dance competition on a private beach island. But as time passes, they realize that the competition is a great messy trap, and they find themselves trapped in a dangerous cannibalistic massacre.
The film is aimed at audiences who enjoy dark comedy, slow-burn thrillers, profane dialogue, and stylized violence. It will mainly appeal to fans of films such as Death Proof, The Hateful Eight, and Pulp Fiction, particularly for their distinctive violence, tension, and dark humor. The trap situation and escalating tension are also inspired by Sinners, while the outrageous comedy and profane dialogue take inspiration from The Wolf of Wall Street.
Always wanted to make an adult film since childhood. The rawness and the fun in a 18+ film always pulls me. The idea of mixing comedy, romance, massacre, and a friend's trip into one film has always intrigued me, and that became the main inspiration for this screenplay.
With more serious films now been made, I really want to bring back the 90's slasher movie era back. With the violence, comedy and sex in this film I think this is a pretty ideal time for it, for people who want to have fun watching a wild ride in theatres.
At this stage, I'm mainly looking for an attached producer and development financing to help me develop and take the project towards production. My biggest goal is to direct the film myself and bring the vision I have for the screenplay to the screen.
