A Pitch for This is Soho

A huge thank you to Jim for bringing This is Soho to us and for setting the project out so clearly. We at Hollywood Indie Festival are cheering you on as you continue to create. The pitch follows below.

Core Pitch

From drag queens and bouncers to landlords, local legends and insider stories from celebrity Soho devotees, the feature-length documentary delves into the heart and history of London's most iconic neighbourhood just as it stands at a crossroads.

Narrated by Stephen Fry, This is Soho blends vérité storytelling with unique access behind the doors of Soho's most celebrated establishments and the residents who call Soho home. With rising rents, the rapid closure of iconic institutions, and changes brought about by commercialisation, is all that under threat? Is the price of progress worth it for one of the most storied postcodes in the world? We hear from all sides, including major investors in the area, as the fight for the soul of Soho plays out in real time.

Target Audience

All adults. Interest in travel and tourism, social issues. Similar to Stephen Fry's America, Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends, and No Reservations.

Vision

To address the current and ongoing march of gentrification (a global concern) from both sides of the argument. To discover and explore a unique part of London known especially for its cultural significance and history as a refuge to artists, writers, musicians, and outliers.

Current Status

Completed and looking for distribution.
