In 1950, an unlikely trio of Glaswegian students conspire to renew nationalist hope for Scottish Independence and take back the famed Stone of Scone, aka the Stone of Destiny. The central conflict is a heist/act of theft in the name of Scottish Independence. The unique selling point is that while this story may have been told before, I was more focused on Kay Matheson, the female perspective in this story, whereas previous iterations were from the male perspective.

Heist/Adventure Film for Kids, Families, Adults, Etc. I would compare it to Stone of Destiny (2008) as well as the Indiana Jones film series and Outerbanks.

I read a line about the story in which Kay Matheson was one of the only girls they knew who was "crazy" enough to go along with it. That fascinated me. They needed a woman to subvert expectations and get away with their crime more easily, because women are typically more trustworthy. Previous iterations of this story were from the male perspective and I was more interested in the female perspective, the heroine of the journey. Now is the right time for the world to see it because audiences are loving female driven stories and there was a Draft Independence Referendum Bill published by the Scottish Government on August 28, 2026. Scottish independence is always a point of contention in UK politics. The US became free of British rule in 1776, what does it mean for a country to become independent today? And what would it mean for Britain, the UK, Brexit, the EU, etc? It can and will have major geopolitical implications. A modern day David and Goliath.

"A Date With Destiny" has won numerous awards at film festivals around the world ranging all the way from San Francisco, California to Melbourne, Australia. It has achieved global recognition and therefore appeal. It is completed as a short, but I would love to secure funds to do it as a feature. Seeking financing, distribution and representation. However, considering its multiple awards, it's a solid investment.
