A Pitch for The Game

A huge thank you to Avery for bringing The Game to us and for setting the project out so clearly. We at Hollywood Indie Festival are cheering you on as you continue to create. The pitch follows below.

The Core Pitch

When a grief-stricken detective investigating the drug kingpin responsible for his brother's and parents' deaths is transformed into a day-walking vampire, he and a fellow survivor must enter a deadly supernatural tournament where vampires, werewolves, zombies, mutants, and humans battle for power—while plotting revenge against the criminal empire that destroyed their lives.

THE GAME follows Troy O'Bryant as his pursuit of justice is transformed into a fight for survival, identity, and revenge after he discovers that the criminal underworld he is investigating is inhabited by supernatural clans living secretly among humans. Alongside Angela, another victim of Donny Jones and Reco Jesus, Troy must navigate a world of competing creatures and a high-stakes tournament that will determine who sits at the top of the underworld—creating a collision of urban crime thriller, vampire mythology, supernatural politics, and gladiatorial action.

Target Audience & Comps

The core audience for THE GAME is adults and older young adults, particularly viewers ages 18–44 who enjoy supernatural action, urban fantasy, crime thrillers, and ensemble stories centered on rival factions and high-stakes combat. The project also has strong appeal for audiences seeking diverse characters and a contemporary, urban setting combined with larger-than-life fantasy mythology.

The strongest comparable titles are Underworld, for its conflict between supernatural species and action-driven mythology; Blade, for its urban vampire world and day-walking protagonist; The Purge, for its social violence, organized crime, and survival-driven stakes; and Mortal Kombat, for its tournament structure and clashes between powerful fighters and competing factions. THE GAME distinguishes itself by bringing vampires, werewolves, zombies, mutants, and humans into the same hidden underworld, where criminal power, personal revenge, and supernatural politics collide.

The Vision & Urgency

The primary vision behind THE GAME is to build a supernatural world where familiar genre creatures are not isolated from one another, but exist within a hidden society shaped by power, loyalty, betrayal, family, crime, and revenge. The story begins with deeply personal human losses—Troy's brother and parents, and Angela's family—and expands into a larger mythology in which their search for justice leads them into a secret world of vampires, werewolves, zombies, mutants, and competing clans.

Now is an ideal time for THE GAME because audiences continue to embrace elevated genre storytelling that combines recognizable mythology with fresh worlds, serialized storytelling potential, and diverse characters. THE GAME offers more than a traditional vampire story: its combination of an urban crime narrative, supernatural transformation, competing factions, and a tournament that determines power within the underworld creates a concept with the potential to expand beyond a single film into a larger franchise or serialized universe.

Current Status & Goals

THE GAME is currently seeking strategic industry partnerships to move the screenplay into active development and production. The immediate goals include securing literary representation, identifying an experienced producer or production company with a strong track record in action, fantasy, horror, or supernatural content, and pursuing a shopping agreement, option, or script sale with the right creative and financial partner.

The project is also seeking development and production financing, as well as potential attachments in key areas such as producing, directing, casting, visual effects, and franchise development. Because THE GAME is based on The Game book series by Avery Jackson, the long-term objective is to develop the property as a scalable intellectual property with potential for sequels, serialized adaptations, and an expanded supernatural universe.
