Amy Kay DuBoff
Writer of Stranded
When their colony ship mysteriously explodes above an untamed planet, burned undercover operative Evan Taylor and xenobiologist Anya Rojas are forced into an alliance neither of them wanted. What looks like a disastrous landing is the opening move of an interstellar cover-up: their military escort is burning on the horizon, and a corporate liaison has been murdered in a sealed pod. As Evan and Anya push beyond the crash site, they uncover ancient alien technology that can rewrite the balance of human civilization—and put them in the path of every faction that wants it first.
Based on A.K. DuBoff's internationally bestselling Starship of the Ancients series.
Adults 18–54 who want character-led space adventure with conspiracy scale: the Lost audience that stayed for the mystery, and The Expanse audience that stayed for politics and power.
Comps: The Expanse meets Lost—a two-hander that starts on a hostile world and opens into a galaxy-wide fight over buried ancient tech.
Stranded begins as a survival story and unfolds into a layered mystery of conspiracy, ancient alien technology, and revolution — anchored by a central romance that keeps audiences invested every step of the way.Amy Kay DuBoff · Stranded
The market is full of doomed-institution sci-fi and spectacle-first space opera. Stranded is built for the space between them: a series that can open on a crash site and still be about who controls the next era of human expansion. The pilot is the on-ramp. The series is Evan and Anya versus the factions willing to go to war for control of ancient alien technology.
Now is the window because buyers are still hungry for high-concept sci-fi, but they are far more likely to move on a mapped book series with a finished pilot than on an original space opera that has to look expensive before it has a story. Rights and a finished pilot are already in hand, from a USA Today-bestselling and Nebula-nominated author; a producing partner is attaching to a mapped series, not a survival premise hoping the larger story appears.
Pilot is written and circulating. Notable placements: Grand Jury Award for Best TV Pilot/Series, Film Invasion Los Angeles; finalist, FilmQuest. I'm seeking a producing partner who will actively package and shop the series—not a passive option. Open to literary representation that already works in genre television.
