What is the central conflict and unique selling point of your project?

Hit Me is a darkly comic crime drama set in Edinburgh, where an ordinary man who once survived a contract killing begins to suspect the hit on his life was never truly finished. As gangsters, treasure hunters, and ruthless criminals collide in a city-wide hunt for hidden gold, multiple storylines spiral toward a violent reckoning. The series blends gritty crime, sharp humour, and unpredictable twists in a world where paranoia, greed, and survival are constantly at war.

Who is the ideal viewer for this project, and which existing films/series is it most comparable to?

The ideal audience is viewers who enjoy character-driven crime dramas with a dark comedic edge. The tone and world sit comfortably alongside series such as Gangs of London, PeakyBlinders, Top Boy, and the cult Scottish classic Trainspotting. The series combines high-stakes crime storytelling with humour and layered characters, appealing to audiences who enjoy bold, gritty drama with unexpected twists.

What was the primary inspiration behind this story, and why is now the right time for the world to see it?

The origin of Hit Me comes from a deeply personal moment in my life. My brother was terminally ill, and throughout his illness we promised each other that we would continue to treat one another the same way we always had, with humour, even in the darkest moments, as a way to cope with the physical and emotional pain we were experiencing.

During one visit, seeing how ill he had become, I made a dark joke that if I were as sick as he was, I might have ended things myself. To my shock, he told me he had actually tried. Trying to lighten the moment, I joked that maybe I would hire a hitman to make it quick. My brother immediately replied with a thought that stuck with me: “But what if you did… and then found out you weren’t dying after all? What if you couldn’t cancel the hit?”

My brother passed away two days later, but that conversation stayed with me and eventually became the seed of the story. Since then, I have written four Hit Me novels and developed the project into a television series with an eight-episode first season. The story grew from that moment of dark humour between two brothers into a larger exploration of fate, paranoia, crime, and survival.

Is the project fully completed, or are you currently seeking distribution, finishing funds, or representation?

Hit Me currently exists as a developed scripted series with multiple episodes written and a full season arc planned. The story has also been developed through four novels, providing a strong narrative foundation and world-building for the television adaptation.

The project is now seeking production partners, representation, and distribution opportunities to bring the series to screen as a high-end crime drama with strong international appeal.

Hit Me has already gained strong recognition on the international festival circuit. The teaser trailer has won six film festival awards, the pilot episode script has received twenty filmfestival awards, and Episode 04, submitted for feedback purposes, has already won the first festival award it was entered into.

A defining element of the project is its distinctive dark humour and highly memorable characters. Many of the characters have been deliberately written in dynamic pairings, functioning almost like unconventional comedy duos within the crime world. Their interactions bring a unique balance of tension and humour that gives the series a very original voice. The characters have been carefully developed with the ambition that they could grow into recognisable, household figures for audiences, with several storylines designed to be spin-off worthy.

The series itself has been developed with multiple seasons in mind, supported by a large body of original material including novels, scripts, and extensive world-building. The combination of organic storytelling, sharp dialogue, layered characters, and dark humour creates a universe that can continue expanding with new stories, characters, and interconnected narratives.
