Vincent Krah

Director of “The Settlement (water thrust sequel)”

Meet the Creator

A huge thank you to Vincent for these thoughtful answers and for giving us a glimpse behind the scenes of your work. We at Hollywood Indie Festival are cheering you on as you continue to create. Enjoy the interview below!

What is the central conflict and unique selling point of your project?

The primary selling point for the settlement is its continuation of the cinematic world-building established in water thrust (2022). While the first film focuses on physical and environmental struggles of an ancient African tribe fleeing a devastating drought, this project shifts the focus toward the sociopolitical aftermath and the complex internal power struggles that arise when a displaced community tries to establish a new home.

* Intense power dynamics

* Environmental narrative water scarcity

* Retuning Star power: Adjetey Anang, Bobby Valantino Zoe and Gifty Lawson

Who is the ideal viewer for this project, and which existing films/series is it most comparable to?

Core audience demographics: Fans of contemporary African cinema specifically viewers who follow the work of stars like Adjetey Anang, Bobby Valantino Zoe and Gifty Lawson who are prominent figures in the Ghanian and West African film industries.

What was the primary inspiration behind this story, and why is now the right time for the world to see it?

A new water ethics: This project aims to use cinema as a necessary part of the solution for global issues. The vision is to treat water not just as a resource, but as a catalyst for human ethics, exploring how scarcity can either unite a community or tear it apart through betrayal.

Now is the right time for this project because it directly mirrors the global water crisis and the displacement of communities currently dominating world headlines. While the story is set in an ancient context, its core themes are hyper-relevant for today’s audience.

Climate urgency: As record drought and resource scarcity become a reality across several continents, the Settlement serves as a timely allegory for the physical and moral struggles humanity faces when basic survival resources vanish.

Is the project fully completed, or are you currently seeking distribution, finishing funds, or representation?

The current Status of the Settlement (water thrust sequel) is that it is fully completed with a clear shift in narrative focus from its predecessor.

Expanding world-building moving beyond the initial survival trek to explore the internal power structures and cultural retention of the Mbati people as they establish their new territory.The project aims is to serve as a cinematic mirror to modern issues like water scarcity and the sociopolitical challenges faced by displaced communities globally.
