Tom Robert Sorem
Director of “Spot’s Day Out”
Meet the Creator
A huge thank you to Tom for these thoughtful answers and for giving us a glimpse behind the scenes of your work. We at Hollywood Indie Festival are cheering you on as you continue to create. Enjoy the interview below!
What is the central conflict and unique selling point of your project?
Spot’s Day Out is like NO other movie that shows the love, frustration and humor of pet ownership. Spot is a 16” cookie jar… Or is he?
Who is the ideal viewer for this project, and which existing films/series is it most comparable to?
My target audience is all ages. I compare the relationship with Tom and Spot to Tom Hank’s character and Wilson in the movie Castaway.
What was the primary inspiration behind this story, and why is now the right time for the world to see it?
The inspiration for this fanciful tale was the isolation and loneliness many of us experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Turning to the objects and creatures surrounding me in my tiny apartment, I used my imagination and camera to reveal a world of love, companionship and humor. Anytime is the right time to remind us how we can connect to the world by simple using our imagination.
Is the project fully completed, or are you currently seeking distribution, finishing funds, or representation?
The movie is finished. I’m looking for distribution and representation.
