Carlos David Langain

Director of “Eurydiheid”

Meet the Creator

A huge thank you to Carlos David for these thoughtful answers and for giving us a glimpse behind the scenes of your work. We at Hollywood Indie Festival are cheering you on as you continue to create. Enjoy the interview below!

What is the central conflict and unique selling point of your project?

The conflict centers on a literal trial for resurrection in which we follow two recently deceased individuals, who must defend their morally ambiguous lives before a panel of two mythological gods to win a second chance at life. Its original take on topics of morality and the afterlife is its biggest selling point; however, the Chronokotzers also present a particularly interesting merchandising opportunity.

Who is the ideal viewer for this project, and which existing films/series is it most comparable to?

Eurydiheid has a wide spectrum of potential audiences, ranging from kids aged 12 and up to people in their 30s, featuring fun, comedic scenes while also treating more serious topics in a light-hearted way. The script is similar in pace and delivery to that of Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest” or, for something more recent, I would say it could be similar to the show “The Good Place”.

What was the primary inspiration behind this story, and why is now the right time for the world to see it?

The inspiration for Eurydiheid came to me during the pandemic, when I went down a rabbit-hole of Greek mythology and ended up estranged that, in most of the media I have seen that draws from it, the gods are not portrayed as they actually are in these myths; especially Zeus, as he’s always portrayed as a noble, righteous, and serene, warrior deity when he’s rarely that. This character I had in mind for Zeus and various influences from other media I enjoy became the perfect catalyst to create the concept of this story that I then delved deeper into to hone its intricacies and details in a more theatrical way. As for why now, I believe because it’s something the world has not yet seen; it’s a simple tale made to entertain and make audiences genuinely smile and have something to think about on their way home. No more, no less…

Is the project fully completed, or are you currently seeking distribution, finishing funds, or representation?

I only have the finished script. Everything else I would be looking for.
